AEPi ISSUES STATEMENT ON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS’ TESTIMONY TO CONGRESS

07 Dec, 2023

STATEMENT FROM ROB DERDIGER, CEO

ALPHA EPSILON PI INTERNATIONAL

“Yesterday’s (December 5, 2023) congressional testimony by three university presidents on the subject of antisemitism on campus was illuminating for much of the country as the university presidents couldn’t even condemn those who called for Jewish genocide.

Unfortunately, Alpha Epsilon Pi, the world’s largest and leading Jewish college fraternity, is very accustomed to these attitudes which are prevalent in college administrations and have helped foster the blatant antisemitism we are seeing on college campuses. We have been deeply engaged in advocacy efforts on the college front for many years.

Our mission — to develop the future leaders of the Jewish community — has never been more important than it is today. Our undergraduates are working with their student peers to push back against antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric and actions on campuses and in communities throughout North America.

As a demonstration of that leadership, next week AEPi will be hosting its annual webinar for college and university administrators to discuss the challenges being faced by Jewish students on college campuses and how, working together, we can create an environment on campuses in which Jewish students feel safe and enabled to demonstrate their Jewish identity and support for Israel.

Only through such strong and proactive advocacy can we make a difference.”
