Despite, or perhaps, due to, rising campus antisemitism and tensions, Alpha Epsilon Pi International Fraternity, the world’s leading Jewish college fraternity, grew significantly during the fall term, adding eight new chapters and more than 1,500 new members.
During the fall term, AEPi Brothers also:
— Commemorated the one-year anniversary of the October 7 Hamas massacre by conducting 77 community service event and performing nearly 4,500 hours of community service during AEPi’s “Strength Through Service” day.
— Held more than 70 screenings of “Screams Before Silence,” a film produced by former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg which documents the sexual violence perpetrated against women on October 7 by Hamas.
— Celebrated Shabbat together on 125 campuses during AEPi’s “Shabbat Across AEPi” program in conjunction with the fraternity’s 111th anniversary on November 7.
“Fall term was difficult for many Jewish students on college campuses but we are very proud of the way that our Brothers have responded, by positively proclaiming their Jewish pride and support for Israel,” said Rob Derdiger, AEPi’s CEO. “I think that’s a key reason that we continue to grow.”
New AEPi chapters were started with students on the following campuses:
— Cal Poly – Pomona
— Cal State – Long Beach
— Dickinson College
— Florida International University
— Ithaca College
— University of Oklahoma
— University of Southern California
— Wayne State University
Students looking for information on these or any of the more than 150 chapters, or those who are interested in starting chapters on other campuses, should visit AEPi’s website: https://aepi.org/rushrec
“Our fraternity’s mission is to develop the future leaders of Jewish communities across the world. Our growth and strength represent the strength of our undergraduate members who are working to exhibit that leadership every day on their campuses and in their communities,” said Derdiger.
