During this time of rising antisemitism throughout the globe – and especially on college campuses — 124 chapters of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) fraternity, the world’s largest and leading Jewish college fraternity, virtually celebrated Shabbat together with AEPi’s “Shabbat Across AEPi” program in conjunction with the fraternity’s 111th anniversary on November 7.

During Shabbat Across AEPi, chapters from the United States, Canada and Israel, joined together on two Friday nights (November 8 and November 15, 2024) to celebrate Shabbat.

In total, 124 AEPi chapters and nearly 5,000 individuals participated in the undergraduate-run shabbat dinners.

“Bringing so many of our Brothers together to simply say the Shabbat prayers and break bread together is especially important in our world today,” said Rob Derdiger, AEPi’s CEO. “In light of what is happening on college campuses and in our communities, this program makes an important point about not being intimidated and remaining proud of our Jewish heritage and traditions.”

“Our fraternity’s mission is to develop the future leaders of Jewish communities across the world. Having the initiative and commitment to proudly host a Shabbat dinner as a fraternity event is an example of the kind of leaders AEPi is building,” said Derdiger.
